Vox Data-Logging Speaking Audible Altimeter
The new Bluetooth Data-Logging Speaking Audible Altimeter from Freefall Data Systems! The altimeter that talks to you!
The VoxAlti is a speaking audible. The speaking audible is a newer technology, growing fast in popularity. This is understandable, as there is not much better for the development of altitude awareness than having the altitude actually called out for you both on the way up as well as on the way down at regular intervals. This teaches you to associate an altitude picture with a number and in many cases, it could theoretically replace your wrist-mounted altimeter (but we don’t recommend that). It can also tell you things like “pull” or “seatbelts.” The primary disadvantage is that they are not as loud or attention-getting as a beeping audible. This is why FDS gives both the SonoAlti 4V and VoxAlti the ability to beep as well, although the beeps and sirens it can emit are not quite as loud as those of beeping audibles like ColorAlti 3 and SonoAlti 3, which use a different speaker technology. VoxAlti is the louder of the two speaking audibles currently manufactured by FDS.
While the other FDS speaking audible, the SonoAlti 4V, is set using a web app in a browser, VoxAlti functions very much like the FDS SonoAlti 3 and ColorAlti 3. The VoxAlti is set via BLE and the FDS Altis app. It also has up to five presets and is a data-logger, whereas SonoAlti 4V is not. Additionally, VoxAlti boasts an IP67 water ingress protection rating. The SonoAlti 4V is more compact, and in most cases gets slightly better battery life than VoxAlti. VoxAlti, however, takes the cake in terms of loudness.
